Today we are excited to share our latest update with you.

In this release:

  • Max Bid Enforcement — Max Bid is now mandatory and acts as a hard cap on all placement bids at all times
  • Placement-level bid protection — manual bid adjustments are blocked from exceeding Max Bid, with immediate capping applied when Max Bid is reduced
  • UI updates — Advanced section is now always expanded by default, default max bid helper text removed

Max Bid: Now Mandatory and Always Enforced

Max Bid in Campaign Settings has been upgraded to a required field. Once configured, it acts as a hard ceiling on all placement bids across all channels at all times — no placement bid can exceed this value.

Applicable to: DS Cross-Channel Algorithm and Tripadvisor SP (Share of Voice bidding strategy)

How to Set Your Max Bid

Go to the Campaign detail page and click the Settings tab in the top navigation. The Advanced section is now always expanded by default, so your Max Bid configuration is immediately visible. Please ensure Max Bid is filled in for all applicable channels before saving — the helper text “Default XX max bid applies when empty” previously shown under each channel has been removed.

Manual Bid Adjustments Are Constrained by Max Bid

When selecting placements and adjusting bids manually on the Placements page, the allowable input range is automatically constrained by the current Max Bid. The range shown next to the input field reflects the current limit — bids cannot be set above the Max Bid value.

What Happens When You Update Max Bid After Manual Adjustments?

If you reduce Max Bid after manual bid adjustments have already been made, the system handles affected placements as follows:

Situation

What happens

Manual bid above new Max Bid

Immediately capped at the new Max Bid value

Manual bid at or below new Max Bid

Remains unchanged, subject to algorithm after 3-day lock

Example

Step

Action

Result

1

Max Bid is set to $5. There are 50 placements in scope.

All bids capped at $5.

2

10 placements manually adjusted to $4; 15 placements to $2.

Both accepted — within $5 cap. Bids cannot be manually set above $5.

3

Max Bid updated to $3.

10 placements (bid $4) immediately capped at $3. 15 placements (bid $2) remain unchanged, subject to algorithm after 3-day lock.
